When you think of Parisian cuisine, you probably picture something along the lines of baguettes, escargot, & cheese. As someone who is vegan, I thought my options would be somewhat limited there but BOY was I wrong. Not only did Paris have an abundance of fully vegan restaurants and bakeries, but it actually has several of my favorite vegan restaurants of all time. I have now been to Paris three times and tried many vegan places, but the ones listed below are my absolute favorites.
- Le Potager de Charlotte– This restaurant features a chic interior and fantastic food. There are two different locations that feature the same menu. It has general European-style cuisine, and most dishes are also gluten free.
- Urban Greener Paris– I have gone out of my way several times to eat here for weekend brunch because the food is so phenomenal. The first time I went, the owner sat with me and we chatted for the better part of my meal- needless to say, she is extremely kind. From what I recall, she moved to Paris from the south of France to open the restaurant just before the pandemic began because there is a larger market for vegan food there. I believe it is open only for dinner on weekdays, so check the hours before planning a meal here.
- Land & Monkeys– This bakery is entirely vegan and has some of the best pastries my friends and I have ever had (vegan or not). Aside from traditional French pastries, it also has vegan sandwiches, quiches, and more. This bakery has several locations.
- Breathe Restaurant– This is a cool Japanese restaurant with a changing menu. It has a sushi bar, street food, amazing desserts, and great cocktails. The interior is bright and is walking distance from main tourist attractions such as the Louvre.
- Viet Food Vegan– If you love Vietnamese food like I do, then this restaurant should be on your list of restaurants to visit. It is a bit tricky to find and a little unseemly from the outside, but the food is some of the best I’ve ever had.
- VG Patisserie– This is another fantastic bakery found in the 11th Arrondissement. It has several fancy tarts and pastries along with more traditional ones.
- The Friendly Kitchen– Along with being vegan, this is a fully gluten-free restaurant as well. It has a seasonal menu and interior decor of the restaurant is instagram-worthy.
- Boneshaker Doughtnuts– It’s hard to go wrong with handmade doughnuts baked fresh daily. My personal favorite item from here is the Matcha Beignet, which reminded me of a matcha cronut.
- Buddy Buddy– This minimalistic Belgian cafe sells homemade nut butters along with its coffee. It has several nut-based pastries as well, so this of course would not be the cafe to visit if you or someone in your travel party has a nut allergy.
